But if we gave up every time we lost, then we'd never be able to move forward." Ruby is a young girl who's constantly trying her best. Her friends see her as someone enthusastic, quirky, stubborn, and sometimes a little overbearing. For the most part her friends are completely right. Ruby embodies all of these traits. In a way she behaves the way a normal sixteen-year old should. She's a dreamer and she wants to be like one of those heroes in the fairytales. In truth, Ruby is always honest with herself and wishes to see her dreams become a reality. Initially Ruby comes across as a socially awkward individual. On her first day of school she blew up, saw a guy vomit, and got yelled at by a weird girl. Most of these incidents were her fault. She'll be the first to admit that she isn't the best at socializing. Her priorities are a little skewed. She enjoys the company of weapons more than people. Thanks to this trait of hers she has difficulty making friends. That isn't to say that Ruby hates socializing. She simply has trouble reaching out to others. Both Weiss and Blake don't enjoy having Ruby around at first. They find her to be a bit of a nuisance because she's so bizarre. Ruby is a good person and it may take someone a while to realize this. Unfortunately, Ruby isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Sometimes she can be a bit of an airhead. Ruby doesn't even pay attention in class and that irritates her classmates. They've given her several nicknames for her spacey attitude such as Crater face and the Braindead girl. Ruby is the type of person who plans things out at the last second instead of thinking things through. People don't call her those names for nothing. Ruby doesn't take those comments to heart and she continues to be herself in spite of all of this. Once a person has become acquainted with Ruby more they would realize that she's strong. Her ambition and bravery is noted by her peers. Naturally, Ruby didn't get these traits from thin air. She aspired to become more like her uncle Qrow who was recognized for his unconventional fighting style and recklessness. Ruby inherited these traits from her family members. Even her sister Yang is shown to be just as courageous as Ruby herself. If something is troubling Ruby she'll do whatever she can to face it head on. She's far from a coward. In fact, her bravery inspires others like Jaune to do better. Ruby has the potential to become a great leader. Whenever her allies are in trouble she's quick to aid them. In most situations Ruby puts the needs of others over herself. Her quick judgments saved the day on more than one occasion. Ruby was the person who brought her team together in spite of their differences. She's able to behave in a manner fitting for a leader. At first, this irritates Weiss as she questions Ruby's maturity and inexperience. However, Ruby tries her best to be sensible because that's what people expect of her. It's easy to forget that Ruby isn't all sunshine and roses. She is burdened with many grievances that she has accumulated over time. The loss of her mother Summer devastated her. Ruby is shown to have nightmares related to this incident in spite of her sunny demeanor. This doesn't stop Ruby from behaving in a friendly and approachable way. Normally most people don't even know that Ruby is so troubled. However, she only discusses her issues with people she feels comfortable with such as friends and family. At the end of the day Ruby is still a minor. She cannot correct all the wrongs in the world by herself. Sometimes she suffers losses for playing the role of the hero. Despite that, Ruby continues to move on with her head high. She's tenacious and is able to endure a lot of hardship. Something important to say about Ruby is that she doesn't discriminate against others. Her kind nature extends to nonhumans and various beings. Ruby doesn't care what people are made of or where they come from. She'll treat people politely if they aren't going to hurt anyone. To her what's important is on the inside. Ruby befriends both the Faunus and robots. Her ability to accept people is somewhat shocking to some. At first even Penny has difficulty believing that Ruby is so sympathetic. So to summarize this all briefly Ruby is someone who wears her heart on her sleeve. It's not difficult to tell what she's feeling at any given time. She's so earnest that it's almost surprising.
